Steven Lash is a distinguished healthcare executive and consultant with over three decades of leadership in healthcare finance, strategy, and operations. His career spans hospital systems, physician organizations, integrated delivery networks (IDNs), and early-stage healthcare ventures. Known for his ability to drive meaningful change, Steven Lash has delivered exceptional results in areas including Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), interim leadership, operational turnarounds, financial restructuring, and physician integration.
Steven Lash has led consulting engagements across the U.S., where he has been instrumental in implementing performance improvements and financial transformations. His unique strength lies in having held leadership roles across both finance and operations, enabling a holistic approach to healthcare system improvement. From serving as Interim CFO, COO, and RCM Director, to streamlining workflows and executing strategic financial planning, Steven Lash has consistently delivered measurable impact. His deep expertise includes reducing Days in Accounts Receivable (DAR), cash acceleration, developing and implementing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and reengineering managed care contracts.
Over the past 17 years, Steven Lash has worked as an independent consultant specializing in operational turnarounds and restructuring. His notable engagements include a $12M cash turnaround and $6.5M in net income growth for a Georgia hospital and physician organization by renegotiating contracts and optimizing RCM. At a major academic center, he significantly reduced denial rates and created dynamic dashboards to monitor performance. In another assignment with a Texas-based hospital and IDN, Steven Lash brought down Days in A/R from 158 to 54 while reducing clinic losses.
Steven’s earlier experience includes two decades at Sharp Healthcare, where he held multiple leadership roles, including Executive Vice President of Institutional Care and Senior Vice President of Business Affairs and CFO. During his tenure, Steven Lash transformed Sharp Healthcare into a vertically integrated healthcare system, founded and led its proprietary health plan, and launched an offshore captive insurance company that saved millions in liability costs.
In another professional endeavor, as the CEO of DermTech International, Steven Lash redefined its business strategy and secured capital for growth in dermatological diagnostics.
Steven Lash has also played a strategic advisory role for early-stage healthcare funds and private equity firms such as Bain Capital and New Harbor Capital. He has helped healthcare organizations scale sustainably while maintaining financial discipline and clinical excellence. His involvement with organizations like the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), where he served as president, and as a board member for several healthcare enterprises, demonstrates his longstanding commitment to healthcare innovation and operational excellence.
Steven Lash holds a BS in Business from SUNY Binghamton and an MBA from the University of San Diego.
